NorCal USSSA Qualifying Guidelines

State Tournament

·        Participate in two USSSA qualifiers between January 1, and the State Tournament.

·        Earn World Series Berth (This berth includes the right to play in the State Championships)

World Series

·        Finish top 2 in any USSSA qualifier between January 1 and the State Tournament.

§            If a team finishes top 2, and already has a berth, the berth will be passed down as far as possible, as long as the team has a 2-2 record or better in that qualifier.

§            Teams earning berths may continue to participate in USSSA qualifiers  and earn points until their roster is frozen on June 1.

§            Teams qualifying for the World Series MUST participate in their State Tournament to validate the berth prior to attending the World Series.  This is a mandatory requirement.  Teams must pay AND SHOW to the State Tournament.  Sending entry fee does not automatically allow the team to advance to the orld Series.   If entry fee to the Western World Series is paid, and the team is not eligible to go, the entry fee may be forfeited.  Should teams pay in advance for travel or hotel expenses for the Western World Series, and not be eligible to go, these fees may be forfeited.

·        Finish first in the State Tournament. 

§            Should the first place team decline the berth, it will not be passed down.

·        Finish 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in any “Super” NIT Tournament

§            Teams qualifying for the World Series MUST participate in their State Tournament prior to attending the World Series

Elite World Series

·        Finish first in a “Elite” National Invitational Tournament (NIT)

§            “Elite” NIT tournaments may be held in the 12u, 14u, 16u and 18u Divisions.  Teams earning a berth are NOT required to play in the State Championships or World Series.

§            If the first place team declines the berth, it is NOT passed down to succeeding teams.

Fall State Championships

·        Finish top 2 in a Fall Ball Qualifying Tournament  Between August 1 and November 15

§            Berths are not passed down during Fall Ball since only 2 tournaments are required to play

·        Play in 2 Fall Ball Qualifying Tournaments, no matter how the team finishes

§            Rosters are not frozen during Fall Ball qualifying, however, all rosters are frozen on November 1 with two roster additions allowed after that date.  No additions are allowed  2 weeks prior to Fall Ball Championships.  See player add/release guidelines for more information.
