<>I want
to thank Dennis and DF softball for letting us reach out to all of
you. My name is Gary Parks. I am the head coach of one of the 12U
Folsom Freedom softball teams here in Folsom. >
As
it is with your team, all of the girls on our team are special to us.
We love everyone one of them. When something happens to one of the kids
we all pull for them.

Last
December, Cassidy Sidhu was brought to the hospital for testing because
of chronics headaches. After an MRI, the doctors found a tumor on her
brain. They drained the fluid that had accumulated to relieve the
pressure and did a biopsy to make sure the tumor wasn’t
malignant. To everyone’s shock the tests came back positive. This
tumor is malignant and aggressive.

Cassidy
is only 11 years old and although one of the toughest kids I know, she
is also one of the sweetest and most caring. Everywhere she goes she
leaves a trail of caring friends.
This
type of cancer is extremely unusual in children and there isn’t a lot
of research available to lean on. So, the Sidhu’s were faced with a
dilemma, begin treatments with their current health care provider or go
to the University of Californa San Francisco where they are considered
to have one of the top two programs for children for this specific type
of tumor in the world.
<>Beginning
this week they will have to travel to UCSF for radiation and
chemotherapy treatments. They will have to stay there Monday through
Friday for 6 weeks. It
is impossible to imagine what this must be like for a young girl to
have to experience. It is also impossible to imagine what it must be
like for Cassidy’s parents.

I am asking you to please go to
Cassidy’s “Caring Bridge” web site to read her story.
Then
please go to the Folsom Softball Club’s web site to see how you can
participate in one or more of our fundraisers designed to help with
what will be a very costly series of treatments in San Francisco.
